The Engineered Sleep Duo Essential is the firmest mattress in the Duo line (about 7 to 9 out of 10), built for back and stomach sleepers who want solid, reliable support with a touch of cushion on top. A pillow-top inspired comfort layer softens the first feel, while pocketed coils keep the overall feel firm.
Every Duo pairs the same two-piece construction: a Duo Support coil base you can flip for a softer or slightly firmer side, and a Duo Comfort top held in place by Cling™. Splitting the mattress in two makes it lighter to move and easier to make the bed, and the comfort layer can be replaced on its own down the road.
Before you order: your mattress is made to order and arrives compressed in a box. Once it has been unpacked it cannot be returned, so read the Engineered Sleep Shipping, Delivery & Returns section below.

Warranty
Engineered Sleep warrants the Duo directly, and handles every claim:
- Duo Support (the coil base): 10 years.
- Duo Comfort top layer: 5 years.
- Non-prorated: a qualifying defect inside the warranty period is repaired or replaced at no charge.
Covered: visible indentations beyond Engineered Sleep's limits when the mattress sits on a proper foundation, foam that splits or cracks in normal use, and manufacturing defects in the cover such as torn fabric or unraveling stitching. Not covered: normal wear, a normal increase in softness, comfort preference, stains or unsanitary conditions, and damage from an unsuitable bed frame. A proper frame has at least five to six legs for a Queen or King (four for a Twin or Full), and slats no more than 5 in apart and at least 2.5 in wide. Rotate the mattress head to toe regularly to keep the warranty valid. Full terms are on Engineered Sleep's warranty page.
Engineered Sleep Shipping, Delivery & Returns
Our standard Shipping Policy and Return and Refund Policy cover this product. Because it is made to order and ships directly from Engineered Sleep, some terms differ, and where they differ, the terms below govern.
Delivery
- Shipping is free to the 48 contiguous United States. For Alaska or Hawaii, contact us before you order for a delivery quote.
- Made to order: your mattress is built in Greenville, South Carolina after you order and typically ships within 1 to 2 weeks.
- Your mattress ships by FedEx directly from Engineered Sleep, compressed and rolled in a box.
Inspection
- Inspect your order when it arrives. If the box is badly damaged, photograph it before opening.
- Report damage, a defect or a wrong item within 48 hours of delivery, with photographs, to support@motiontheorylabs.com. Approved claims are resolved with a repair, a replacement or a full refund, with no restocking fee.
Cancellations and returns
- Cancel any time before your mattress ships for a full refund.
- An unopened mattress may be returned if you request it within 30 days of delivery, sealed in its original packaging. A compressed mattress cannot be re-rolled, so once it has been unpacked or slept on, it cannot be returned.
- A return authorization is required before anything ships back. Contact us first and we will arrange it with Engineered Sleep.
- You pay the return shipping unless the mattress is defective or not as described, and a 25% restocking fee applies to the mattress's purchase price.
- Refunds are issued after Engineered Sleep receives and inspects the mattress.

Our Shipping Policy
All orders ship via the method best suited to the size and weight of the product. Smaller items ship via standard parcel carriers. Large items such as saunas and fitness equipment ship via LTL freight and require a scheduled delivery appointment.
- Free shipping on every order in the Continental U.S. (excludes AK/HI), including freight delivery on large equipment. Nothing is added at checkout
- Freight deliveries are curbside unless otherwise noted
- You will be contacted to schedule a delivery appointment for freight orders
- Inspect all items carefully upon delivery before signing. Note any visible damage on the delivery receipt before the driver leaves — failure to note damage at delivery may affect your ability to file a claim

Our Return Policy
We stand behind the products we carry and want you to be confident in every purchase.
- Most items are eligible for return within 30 days of delivery in original, unopened condition, less a 25% restocking fee
- Large freight items (saunas, fitness equipment) must be unopened and in original packaging to be eligible for return. A 25% restocking fee applies to all approved returns, and you pay return shipping, including freight. Once opened, they are not eligible for return or refund.
- Defective or damaged items are handled through the manufacturer warranty process — contact us at support@motiontheorylabs.com and we will assist
- Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer unless the item arrived damaged or defective
